Barcelona m'enamora
Jordi Labanda
Do you live where you want to live?
I can't imagine myself living in any other city in the world.
Would you like to move to a different neighbourhood or street? Why and where to?
In principal, no, I'm happy in Ciutat Vella
Do you spend time in your neighbourhood and with your neighbours? Do you have the shops you need nearby (baker's, grocer's, dry cleaner's)?
In my neighbourhood there is everything.
As well as doing your daily shopping (if you do it), do you have places and services for all your needs?
Yes.
Do you stroll around your own neighbourhood for pleasure or do you go elsewhere?
Of course I go around the Gothic and Raval neighbourhoods because it is where I live and work. But, without doubt, I enjoy walking all over the city. Walking while listening to music with earphones is one of my pleasures in life, and even more in a city like this.
Which are your favourite cinemas, theatres and clubs? ?
Cinemas - Verdi and Icaria; theatres - I never go; night clubs - cocktail bars like Dry Martini and music and concert clubs like the Razzmatazz or the Mond Club.
And which are your favourite restaurants, bars, and cafés?
There are so many. The Noti, Ottimo, Flash Flash, Giardinetto, Casa Leopoldo...
Is there any public area where you like to go to chat?
Without doubt the port.
What is the most appropriate, funny or surprising adjective you have heard to describe Barcelona? Which one would you use?
That it is super cool... I would call it "the city of tranquillity".
Of where, between the sea and Tibidabo, do you have the most memories?
Perhaps Calle Hospital. I studied in the Escuela Massana and when I walk along this street, thousands of memories flood back, of one of the most lively eras in my life.
Which is the best place (a park, a café, a seat in the city) to have a romantic date, or to be able to whisper sweet nothings to a loved one?
Having a beer in that charming, retro bar which is like a viewpoint on the mountain of Montjüic..
What colours or smells, when you see or smell them anywhere in the world, remind you immediately of Barcelona?
The smell of the sea I think.
When you have had to leave the city for a while, what have you missed most?
A good paella by the sea.
Which of the changes that have been made in the city recently are you happiest with?
Without doubt, the recovery of the littoral.
What don't you like, and what would you do to change it?
I would put the area of the Plaça Reial and its surroundings in order. When it comes to people - all that which is being degraded so horribly. I would give shopkeepers complete freedom for opening hours, and I would also like something to be done about the pigeons. I hate them!
Add anything you would like to say, and that we haven't asked.
We are very lucky to live in a city like this.
