Definitely. And I love it. I adapt very well, but if one day I had to leave, I would be unhappy.
Would you like to move? Why and where to?
No, unless it was to get a bit closer to the Rambla de Catalunya, but it's only a few metres.
Do you spend time in your neighbourhood and with your neighbours? Do you have the shops you need nearby (baker's, grocer's, dry cleaner's)?
I'm at home a lot, because I feel good here. And in a radius of two hundred metres I have everything: I have a coffee in the Paul coffee bar, in Carrer Rosselló; the Caixa, is right here; in the Carrer Mallorca, the grocer's; in Carrer Còrsega, the supermarket and the dry cleaner's, etc.
As well as doing your daily shopping (if you do it) do you have places and services for all your needs?
It's not bad at all! Next to Nick Havanna there is Ducks, a bar where I often eat; in Carrer Provença, Mauri, and if I want to walk a little, I go to Morrysson, on Girona-Rosselló.
Do you stroll around your own neighbourhood for pleasure or do you go elsewhere?
I'm a country bumpkin, and very much so, because I like wandering round my neighbourhood. I like wandering around, but I never go far: up and down the Rambla de Catalunya. I only change neighbourhoods for work reasons, if I have arranged to meet friends, to go to a dinner.
Which are your favourite cinemas, theatres and clubs?
I don't often go to the cinema, and when I do, I am easy to please. I go to all theatres, because I like theatre a lot: it is my life, and I have been lucky enough to work in the public as well as private and alternative theatre, in Barcelona and the suburbs. I don't have preferred night-clubs, I go with friends, wherever. Or I should say, I do have one, in my village, in Manlleu, La Cabina, which is the only place where they put up with me until I have had enough, and where they play music I like: the Boss, for example.
And which are your favourite restaurants, bars and cafés
I like eating a lot, and in Barcelona I know a lot of restaurants. My preferred is El Suquet de l'Almirall, and I always find an excuse to go there, with a group or alone, I don't mind.
Is there any public area where you like to go, to sit and chat?
To talk, any bench in the Rambla de Catalunya. But I also like the Parc de la Ciutadella, where I take advantage of being able to do a little exercise, and think.
When you have to act as a guide for visitors, where do you take them?
First, I take them to greet the giraffe by the Diagonal, in front of Can Serra. Whenever I go past it I stroke it, because I think it brings me good luck. Then we go down the Ramblas, to the port, the Paseo de Colom, Barceloneta and all along the sea front.
What is the most appropriate, funny or surprising adjective you have heard to describe Barcelona? Which one would you use?
I love going to Italy, and when the Italians leave Barcelona, they always say "Che bella!", but I would say "cojonuda" (marvellous).
Of where, between the sea and Tibidabo, do you have the most memories?
The Teatre Grec. Because of the actors I have seen there, and the times I have been able to work there. Both before and after I lived in Barcelona, it has always seemed a magical place for me. It is also a night place: the timetable in the Grec, goes from 7 in the early evening to 3 in the early morning.
Which is the best place (a park, a café, a seat in the city) to have a romantic date, or to be able to whisper sweet nothings to a loved one?
I take advantage of the night, the moon, and the beach, and we go for a walk by the sea, from Port Olímpic onwards.
What colours or smells, when you see or smell them anywhere in the world, remind you immediately of Barcelona?
The smell of the lime trees. Some years, not all, the lime trees on the Rambla de Catalunya smell so strong, and it is a smell you can't confuse. When it comes to colours, I cannot shun my passions: the blue and scarlet of Barça.
When you have had to leave the city for a while, what have you missed most?
The little corner where I live and the tranquillity of my life here. The anonymity which you can find, even though you are an actor and you appear on television, the talent of the people of Barcelona.
Which of the changes that have been made in the city recently are you happiest with?
My father was a professional cyclist and rode in the Tour of Catalonia alongside the legendary Poblet. Perhaps this is why I am glad that they are increasing bicycle lanes, which I assume means that there will be fewer cars. I used to go around Barcelona by bike, until my bike was stolen.
What don't you like, and what would you do to change it?
Something has to be done about car traffic. Something should be done to make it better than it is.
Add anything you would like to say, and that we haven't asked.
I would like to add that I, at least, do not see the city as being uneasy, because I am a person who arrives half an hour early. I don't know how long it would take to get to the Teatre Nacional from my house by underground or bus, but I know that it takes me exactly 29 minutes on foot. Life, if you don't live it your way, can become very stressful. However, at the end of it all, here we eat well, we have a good climate, such a blue sea. It is a privilege to live in Barcelona.
