Collaborating Organisations

The Barcelona fire service works with the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) :

  • For inspections with the general management of Games and Shows.
  • For one of high activity operations.
  • For inspection training with the general management of Environment Quality.
  • For writing regulations and agreements in special cases.

With the Sub-delegation of the Government of Barcelona:
For firework inspections.

Month by month agreements are signed between the Barcelona fire service and different professional organisations to minimise risks and maximise security.

  • The Industrial Engineers College of Catalonia: and the College of Architects of Catalonia, to unify criteria in interpreting existing legislation on protection against fire in buildings, industrial establishments, etc. It participates in days for security and fire protection.
  • Barcelona Port Authority, in the area of prevention and action in the event of an accident, to improve the security of the equipment, ships and the goods stored at the port and to avoid and/or reduce risk to the city.
  • Tecnifuego-Aespi, participating in some technical committees for standardisation (CTN-23), as well as other organised activities in the area of fire protection and related preventative themes.
  • LGAI Technological Centre, in areas of research, inspection and testing and controls. It is the main laboratory for the Barcelona Fire Service to test materials reaction to fire.
  • Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), in the areas of training and research for our inspection procedures. To this end the Barcelona fire service gives equipment from the fire service laboratory to test reaction to fire.
  • Guild of Hotels, with the agreement an attempt is made to increase levels of security against fire in the hotel sector so that the hotels in the city have the essential requirements for security against fire within the existing legal framework.
  • Guild of textile manufacturers, with this agreement rules of the collaboration between the council, the Association of Textile Manufacturers and the textile Co-ordinator of Catalonia are established to improve security against fire for the industry and features of the activities.
  • NIKE, to promote sport for the citizens as well as for the fire service via the creation of the fire service race.
