Lluís Olivella (Barcelona, 1947) is an industrial engineer.
He worked in the Information and Documentation Consortium of Catalonia until 1975 and in 1976 received his doctorate in Information Technology.
He was head of the Computing Centre of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) until 1983 and professor of Operative Research at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and at the Faculty of Information Technology of the UPC.
Since 1985 he has been Head of Municipal Computer Services, first as Director of the Municipal Computer Centre and since 1995 as Director of the Municipal Information Technology Institute of Barcelona City Council.
