Teresa Serra i Majem
Born in Barcelona on 4 August 1955. Lives in Barcelona.
Graduate and Master in Computing at the Paris VIII University. Computer Graduate of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Has taught at the UAB and at the Technical University of Catalonia (1978-1984).
She has worked as technical manager of information systems at the Metropolitan Corporation of Barcelona (1981-1984) and as technical manager of information systems and organisation at Barcelona City Council, where she headed information systems projects (1984-1989) and head of European telematics projects and municipal internet services (1994-1997). She has also been the general manager of a development company and has set up advanced technology information systems projects (1989-1994).
Member of the Management Committee of the European network Telecities (1995-1999). Assistant director of the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Information Technology (1997-1999). Commissioner of the Mayor of Barcelona for promoting the Information Society (1997-1999).
Catalan Parliamentary Deputy since the last local elections held in October 1999, in the Socialist Party (Grup dels Socialistes - Ciutadans pel Canvi).
President of the Parliamentary Information Society Commission.
Member of the City Council Telecommunications Commission.
Member of TeleCities Steering Committee (Spanish representative).
