It is currently possible for a driving penalty to be remitted by attending an educational session on road and traffic safety.
The educational session is given at the Guardia Urbana Education Centre on Saturday mornings. A lively, participatory method strives to raise awareness among citizens about the use of public areas and responsibilities when driving vehicles. The session involves reviewing the highway code.
Not all penalties can be remitted. The ticket informing about the offence will detail the cases where this is possible. If eligible, an application must be submitted to the General Registry of the City Council or to any district headquarters. It is then necessary to wait for the formal call to attend the training session.
Remission of penalties is regulated by the Decree of the mayor’s office, dated 11 October 2001, which lays out the various kinds of penalties, circumstances and conditions which may prevent penalties from being executed.
