Within the framework of cohabitation in large European cities with many groups suffering from social exclusion, the BETSI Project tackles the need to promote cooperation among all the social agents, in order to encourage the inclusion of those groups into society. The project specifically focuses on the role that private companies have to play as significant and necessary agents to work jointly with social organisation and local authorities, while promoting a culture of cooperation to fight social exclusion. During the recent past, the corporate sector has made it obvious that it is willing to play a more active role in the social environment in which it operates by assuming new civic commitments as an element of success and quality in its performance. It is necessary to promote this role of the corporate sector, by identifying new strategies and methods to enable companies and businesses to cooperate with other social agents.
