An arbitration request can be submitted before the Junta Arbitral de Consum de Barcelona as follows
- in person before the Junta Arbitral
- through Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC, Oficina Municipal d'Informació al Consumidor)
- via this web site
The complaint is forwarded to the party against which it is made.
Once the arbitration has been accepted, the Arbitration Panel is appointed, made upon of three arbiters
- One consumers’ representative
- One representative of the business sector involved
- The Chairman of the Panel, appointed by the authorities
The parties are given a hearing and, if required, evidence is agreed upon and examined.
The procedure ends with a finding issued by the Arbitration Panel, which is binding upon both parties.
Should the party against which the complaint is made not accept arbitration, the arbitration proceedings will be shelved, leaving the way open for commencing judicial proceedings.
