ARTISTS CURATORS The third edition of the open call BCN Producció has arrived this year, and it does so while maintaining its fundamental principles: to give support to a group of new artists, to respond to the participating artists’ financial and curatorial needs and to propose creative readings of the problematic issues of the contemporary world. In this edition, a jury formed by Amanda Cuesta, Carles Guerra and Eloy Fernández Porta, together with Oriol Gual, the director of La Capella, has selected projects by the artists Fito Conesa, Joan Morey, Mireia Sallarès, Oriol Vilanova and Momu & No Es. The result of an extensive working process, the exhibition presents various penetrating turning points on current culture, from the iconography of success to the rhetoric of radicality, from forests of fear to the poetry of sitting in a waiting room, while taking a detour through a Mexican exploration of the female orgasm. BCN Producción has supported about fifteen projects since it began in 2006. While the open call still requires that an exhibition be held, a significant proportion of these projects have proposed or generated published formats, which has led us to consider the need to give special attention to this type of support. Thus, at this year’s exhibition we will have a small retrospective display of the publications that have been created so far: the vinyl of Los Jeleton, the poster of Enrique Radigales, the translation of Dídac P. Lagarriga and the booklet of Jorge Satorre, all of which were produced as part of the first edition, in addition to the artist’s book of Ana Garcia-Pineda from the second edition and the four new publications from this year.
