The number of entities in this register is now more than 3,000: They can take part and influence the governing of the city of Barcelona. The general list of citizens' organisations is organised according to theme. Organisations which can be listed as non-profit making organisations are :
- those with their headquarters in Barcelona whose activity is in the general interest of the city, and with the basic aim of improving the quality of life of its residents.
- those within the territory of Barcelona, representing the interests of economic, commercial, professional, scientific, cultural and other sectors.
The city council periodically analyses the registered data of the organisations to evaluate the situation and evolution of their association in the fabric of the city, and to encourage debate on proposals for improvement. The city council releases this data periodically.
